People come to India to find themselves spiritually. Here, in Finland I could find myself intellectually.
First I will tell you what the course on "Brain, cognition and communication" did to my brain. What were the aftereffects and how hard was the hangover?
All I can say is I feel changed. And I feel more of me. In these 21 days of my life, my brain has rewired itself and orchestrated itself into a completely different format and way of being.
Finland is unlike any other country (yet to travel more but can vouch for it). The systems here are extremely organised- not because of doing too much work, but because of too much thought that has gone into work. Every thing is so properly thought about- right from the modes of transportation to organisation of cultural events. The trams, buses, trains and even ferries are free for unlimited use once you have a travel card. The trams are never late. They are dot on time and very frequent. You won't find much trash around- well, because you get paid for depositing recyclable bottles. But it's not just that. It's the people here. Ethical , honest, sincere, helpful and weirdly simple. They see life in such practical "common sensical" perspective that it would put the World to shame.
They love solutions. You won't find many hassles here. The systems are in place. And they know what they are talking about. (They just don't like to talk too much.) The classes are short, sweet and effective because well, they make you think. And think real hard. You can discuss with the teachers and peers, and be upfront about your own ideas. The best part is there is no concept of hierarchy. People are nice to each other and there is genuineness in every relationship. No flashy show offs. No tantrums. No dillydallying.
There is a strange sweetish aroma here...perhaps, it's the berries and the forests that smell like that. Or perhaps the people here who live by their ideals. You can find dogs all over (even in the trams!) of multiple breeds. I especially loved those woolly fluffy small and large ones. I couldn't spot a cat but I guess they are happier at homes.
The food was unsettling at first and very pricey for an Asian who loves spices. But gradually , I could realise how diet could be modified into eating heathy salads, drinking fresh juices and eating less overall. The market is a bit pricey too, and there my country scores over big time.
It was a great experience... I must say, I have never felt more myself.
Maybe because they just let you be! And that's rare. Truly.
