Where has art disappeared?

There was a time when art was revered. Art depicted ideas. It conveyed a greater meaning, an ethos for society to cherish. Be it architectural expertise like Taj Mahal , forts or temples or statues like statue of Liberty. Renaissance revolutionalised art. The masterpieces of older times still inspire several emotions in us. They have indeed been beautifully executed.

What about modern day art? I wonder where is it hiding? There are no iconic statues built anymore! Buildings look mostly the same. The work of great artists hardly come into notice. Apart from buildings like hotels or interior decorations, one hardly comes across great work of art being encouraged or acknowledged. Though artists are probably better off today than yester years in terms of finance and exposure... Yet, there are not many modern day masterpieces that can claim to have touched million hearts.

Is Art today less innovative? Or is it less impactful? Wonder where has it disappeared?
